Decals

You add decals to models in the SolidWorks application, with the PhotoWorks application enabled.

Image and Mask Files

A library of decals is available on the Task Pane PhotoWorks Items tab. The image files and their mask files reside in:

<install_dir>\data\images\textures\decals

You can create custom decals by modifying library decals or by creating new decals from images. You can then save the decals to the library.

Texture Mapping

You can select the geometry onto which the decal is to be applied and choose from several types of mapping.

Illumination

The illumination properties of the decal can be those of the underlying appearance or of its own appearance.

Decals in the Render Manager

Shortcut menus are available for the Decals folder on the Render Manager tab in the left panel.

Decal Order

If multiple decals are applied, they are rendered in the order applied. If a decal is applied on top of another, it appears on top.

Sharing Custom Decals

Use Pack and Go when you send models with custom decals to other users so that the custom items are included.
