Summary Info – Custom
and Configuration Specific
On the Custom and the Configuration Specific tabs in the Summary Information dialog box, you
can:
Specify custom properties for the active part,
assembly, or drawing document.
Apply custom properties to specific
configurations in the active part or assembly document.
Add associative dimensions. The dimensions can
come from sketches, part features, assembly features, or assembly mates.
Since part dimensions are associative, values in the Bill of Materials (BOM)
are updated when the dimensions are changed.
Add system-defined
mass
properties as custom properties, using either the Custom
or Configuration Specific tabs.
Edit the list of custom properties.
In addition to the BOM, you can use the properties in the following
ways:
If you plan to use the property as a custom column
in a Bill of Materials:
To access Custom and Configuration
Specific properties:
Click File, Properties.
In the
dialog box, click the Custom tab
for properties that apply to the entire document, or the Configuration
Specific tab for properties that vary from one configuration to
another.
If you
define a property on the Configuration
Specific tab, select a configuration in Applies
to.
Add, edit,
or delete properties as described in the procedures below.
Click OK.
To add custom properties:
Click in
the first blank cell under Property Name,
then type a name or choose one from the list.
Select
a Type from the list.
To move between cells in the table, press Tab
or Enter, or click in the cell
you want to move to.
Under Value / Text Expression, enter a value
for the custom property that is compatible with the selection in the Type cell.
For Value
/ Text Expression, you can type values, or you can select values
from the list, which contains:
If you add a date (for example,
DrawnDate), as a custom property,
the software does not require you to type a date for Value
/ Expression. However, if you
do not type a date, Microsoft interprets the empty field as 1/1/1800 when
you view the
document's custom properties in Windows Explorer.

or Enter.
The value of the property
displays under Evaluated Value.
To link a custom property value for a part to the BOM
Quantity
After adding a custom property, type or select
the custom property name under BOM Quantity.
Click OK.
