Add or Edit Equation

Create or modify equations in the Add Equation and Edit Equation dialog boxes.

To create an equation:

  1. Click Tools, Equations and then click Add.

Alternatively, for equation-driven dimensions:

  1. Double-click the dimension.

  2. In the Modify dialog box, select Add Equation from the dimension value list.

  1. Populate the equation box. See Entering Equations.

  2. Click OK.

The equation and its solution appear in the Equations dialog box.

  3. Click OK to close the Equations dialog box.

  4. Click Rebuild (Standard toolbar) or Edit, Rebuild to update the model.

This results in the following:

    • All equations are solved before the geometry regenerates.

    • The value for the dimension updates in the graphics area.

    • appears with the dimension to indicate that it is driven by an equation.

    • The Equations folder art\EQ_FLDR.gif appears in the FeatureManager design tree.

To edit an equation:

If a dimension is driven by an equation, appears with the dimension in the graphics area.

  1. To display the Edit Equation dialog box, double-click a dimension that is driven by an equation, then in the Modify dialog box, click and select Edit Equation.

The Edit Equation dialog box appears. The equation appears in the equation box.

You can also display the Edit Equation dialog box by opening the Equations dialog box, then clicking Edit.

  1. Make changes to the equation. See Entering Equations.

  2. Click OK.

The equation and its solution update in the Equations dialog box.

  3. Click OK to close the Equations dialog box.

  4. Click Rebuild (Standard toolbar) or Edit, Rebuild to update the model.

All equations are solved before the geometry regenerates.
