Customize Menus

Customize main menus and shortcut menus.

To hide or show items in a menu:

  1. For main menus, click a menu and select Customize Menu. For shortcut menus, right-click to display the shortcut menu, click  , and select Customize Menu.

  2. Select or clear check boxes to show or hide menu items.

  3. Click outside the menu or press Enter.

For shortcut menus, selected items appear on the short version. All items, selected and cleared, appear on the long version.

To show all menu items or set menus to default values:

  1. Click Tools, Customize, or right-click in the window border and select Customize.

  2. On the Options tab, under Shortcut customization or Menu customization, click:

  • Show All. Displays all menu items.

  • Reset to Defaults. Resets all menus to the system default display.

  1. Click OK.

To customize a menu:

  1. In a SolidWorks document, click Tools, Customize, or right-click in the window border and select Customize.

  2. On the Menus tab, select a menu, a command, and options:

  • Categories. Select a menu.

  • Commands. Select the command to add, rename, or remove.

  • Change what menu. Displays the code name of the selected menu.

  • Position on menu. Select a menu position, including Auto, At Top, or At Bottom.

  • Name of command. Displays the code name of the selected command.

  • Description. Displays the description of the selected command.

  1. Click Rename, Remove, or Add Below, then click OK.
