Sketch the following rectangles:

Sketches standard rectangles.

Center Rectangle

Sketches rectangles at a center point.

3 Point Corner Rectangle

Sketches rectangles at a selected angle.

3 Point Center Rectangle

Sketches rectangles with a center point at a selected angle.

Parallelogram

Sketches a standard parallelogram.

 The SolidWorks application defaults to the last used rectangle type. You can also use the rectangle tools (Sketch toolbar).

Rectangle Sketch Commands

Access the rectangle tools by:

  • Sketch tab. Clicking the Rectangle Command Manager, to select rectangle tools from the Rectangle flyout tool.

  • Menu. Clicking Tools, Sketch Entities to select rectangle tools.

  • Rectangle PropertyManager. Changing to different rectangle tools from the Rectangle PropertyManager.

To sketch corner rectangles:

  1. Click Rectangle .

  2. Click to place the first corner of the rectangle, drag, and release when the rectangle is the correct size and shape.

  1. Click .

To sketch center rectangles:

  1. Click Center Rectangle .

  2. In the graphics area:

    1. Click to define the center.

    2. Drag to sketch the rectangle with centerlines.

    3. Release to set the four edges.

  1. Click .

To sketch 3 point corner rectangles:

  1. Click 3 Point Corner Rectangle .

  2. In the graphics area:

    1. Click to define the first corner.

    2. Drag, rotate, and then release to set the length and angle of the first edge.

    3. Click and drag to sketch the other three edges.

    4. Release to set the four edges.

  1. Click .

To sketch 3 point center rectangles:

  1. Click 3 Point Center Rectangle .

  2. In the graphics area:

    1. Click to define the first corner.

    2. Drag and rotate to set one half the length of the centerlines.

    3. Click and drag to sketch the other three edges and centerlines.

    4. Release to set the four edges.

To sketch parallelograms:

  1. Click Parallelogram .

  2. In the graphics area:

    1. Click to define the first corner.

    2. Drag, rotate, and then release to set the length and angle of the first edge.

    3. Click, rotate, and drag to set the angle and length of the other three edges.

    4. Release to set the four edges.

To change the size or shape of a rectangle:

    In an open sketch, drag a side or vertex.

Click Tools, Sketch Settings, Detach Segment on Drag to force sketch segments to detach when you drag them for all rectangle types except Center Rectangle and 3 Point Center Rectangle .

To change the properties of an individual line in the rectangle:
