Document Information

The Document Information dialog box displays information for any document in the vault, if you have at least read privileges.

To view document information:

Right-click a document and select Document Information. In the SolidWorks Explorer client, select a document and click Doc Info on the Mini Toolbar.

You can also see most of the tabs described below in the expanded view section of the SolidWorks Explorer window.

Document information for selected revision

You can change the following fields:

  •  Revision. The most recent revision is indicated by (Latest).

  •  Config. The current configuration is indicated by [in use].

Tabs

Select each of the following tabs to view the corresponding information:

  • Info. Displays read-only information about the selected document such as Date Modified, Owner, etc.

  • Properties. Displays default properties, their corresponding values, and any mapped file properties. The list of properties includes user-defined properties. When you select different configurations from the local view, the corresponding properties appear. If you are the owner of a document, you can change the values of its custom properties. Right-click the row with the property and select Change to access the Change Property Value dialog box.

  • History/Notes. Lists events in the document history items including:

    • Check In and Check Out

    • Own (Take Ownership)

    • Disown (Release Ownership)

    • Change Project

    • Bumped Rev

    • Prop Chg (Change Property)

    • Status Change (Change Lifecycle Status)

The document owner can right-click a document in the vault view and select Add Note. The note then appears in Document Information. In the SolidWorks Explorer client, select a document and click Add Note on the Mini Toolbar.

  • References. Shows all documents referenced by the selected document. For example, if you select an assembly, References displays the assembly components.

  • Where Used. Tracks the selected document in the entire Workgroup PDM vault.

  • Attachments. Displays information (Document, Number, Description, etc.) about any attachments (non-SolidWorks documents).

  • Configurations. Displays information on the configurations of a document as defined in SolidWorks. The current configuration is indicated by [in use].

  • Preview Picture. Displays the selected revision of the document. Toggle through Revision to view a visual history of the SolidWorks document.

Items listed in light grey text under a separation line are not associated with the current revision, but are associated with other revisions.

  • View. If you selected a SolidWorks eDrawings, SolidWorks, or AutoCAD document and select this tab, the document appears in eDrawings.

To select data for a report:

  1. In the top section, select a revision and configuration from the Revision and Config lists.

  2. In the bottom section, select one of the tabs (Properties, History/Notes, etc.) to display that type of information. (Preview Picture and View are not available for output to file.)

To output all types of information for more than one document, see Reporting.

  3. Click Output To File.
