Ambient Occlusion

Ambient occlusion is a global lighting method that adds realism to models by controlling the attenuation of ambient light due to occluded areas. Objects appear as they would on an overcast day.

  • Do not use with surfaces.

  • Avoid applying to thin walled models.

  • Light, non-reflective appearances such as matte aluminum or light grey low gloss plastic display better results than shiny or dark appearances.

To add ambient occlusion:

Select Ambient Occlusion from Apply Scene in the Heads-up View toolbar.
