Edit Action Dialog Box

Use the Edit Action dialog box to define or modify Dispatch scripts for use with Enterprise PDM.

To display this dialog box, click Add in the Administrate Actions dialog box.

Action name

Name of a Dispatch action

The name is displayed in the Installed action list of the Administrate Add-ins dialog box.

Description

Description displayed in the Installed action list of the Administrate Add-ins dialog box.

Activation

Select one or more methods to trigger the action.


  • Menu command - Specifies a right-click menu command in the vault.
  • During state transition - Triggers the action when files in the vault reach a specified workflow state. Click Conditions to open the State Transition Conditions dialog box and specify the path and target state of files that trigger the action.
  • During check out - Triggers the action when the file's mode (checked out or checked in, for example) is changed. Click Conditions to open the Check out change condition dialog box and specify the path and file command to trigger the action.
  • During add - Triggers the action when a file is added to the vault. Click Conditions to open the Add condition dialog box, where you specify a file path and select whether the action is triggered before or after the add operation.

Commands

Lists the commands that are performed when the action is triggered.

The list is processed from top to bottom.

Add

Displays the Select command dialog box, where you specify and configure the command.

Remove

Removes the selected commands from the list.

Use Ctrl+select to select multiple commands.

Edit

Lets you modify the selected command.

Move up

Moves the selected command up in the command list.

Move down

Moves the selected command down in the command list.

Variables

Displays the Set variables dialog box, where you can define variables or select predefined variables that are evaluated and applied when the action is triggered.

For example, variables can contain the name of a file or the value of a file's data card.
