Example: Using the Database Message System

This example describes how to use the built-in Enterprise PDM database message system.

  1. Configure the vault to use the database message system:
    1. Double-click Message System.
    2. From the Configure Mailsystem - General tab, select Database and click OK.
  2. Configure a workflow transition to send a notification to a user. See Creating Workflow Transition Notifications.
  3. Cause a file to pass through the transition (see Enterprise PDM Help).

A notification is sent to the user. The user is notified via a system tray icon.

  4. The user views the notification by clicking the system tray icon, or by viewing the vault inbox (Tools > Inbox from PDM Enterprise Explorer View).
