To add transition conditions:
- Hover over the transition in the workflow editor until the icon appears, then click.
- In the Properties dialog box, on the Conditions tab, select <Click here to add a condition>.
A list of conditions appears.
- Select a variable or one of the following:
- Or - Creates an OR container that you can use to group conditions where only one condition must be true.
- Category - Matches files and items by category, as specified by Value.
- Filepath - For files, matches by filename, extension, or path, as specified by Value.
- Object type - Matches files by object type (BOM, File, or Item), as specified by Value.
- Revision - Matches files by revision number, as specified by Value.
- Remove - Available when you select an existing condition. Removes the selected condition.
- Under Comparison, expand the list and select a comparison operator.
The operators available are determined by the condition you added in step 3.

The changes are saved to the workflow.
When a user tries to use this transition to change the state of a file for which the conditions are not met, the state change fails and Enterprise PDM displays a message box.
