Overview of the VaultAdmin

One or more vault administrators specify settings for the SolidWorks Workgroup PDM vault and permissions for users.

If users are logged in to Workgroup PDM, and the vault administrator makes changes to any of the settings, the settings do not take effect until the users refresh their vault views. Some changes (such as deleting a user) take effect when users log out or close SolidWorks or Workgroup PDM.

  • Vault Settings. Specify administrative privileges, global settings, and log files.

  • Users and Groups. Add, modify, and delete individual users and groups.

  • Search. Enable indexing for the vault metadata.

  • Revision Scheme. Define the revision structure for documents in the vault.

  • Revision Table. Enable Workgroup PDM to control revisions of SolidWorks drawings and set rules for the revisions.

  • Projects . Manage projects and their permissions, check in large numbers of documents, copy projects, and archive document revisions.

  • Lifecycle. Set rules for documents as they progress through the development lifecycle.

  • Properties. Add, modify, delete, and map properties.

  • Standard Libraries. Set the directories that contain Standard Library and SolidWorks Toolbox documents, and specify if Toolbox documents should be checked into the vault.

  • Triggers. Set options to display notification messages of user actions with Microsoft Message Queuing (MSMQ) technology.

The user name of the administrator currently logged in appears at the bottom of each tab.

In the SolidWorks Task Scheduler, you can update Workgroup PDM files and print them in batches.
