Revisions

The vault administrator sets up revision levels on the Revision Scheme tab of the VaultAdmin. A revision scheme typically has primary, secondary, and tertiary levels, and a working copy designation.

  • The revision level is incremented on check-in unless you specify otherwise in the Check In Document dialog box.

    • To overwrite the latest revision of a document, the vault administrator must allow latest revision overwrite on the VaultAdmin Vault Settings tab. For example, you can overwrite revision PRE-01 of the document.

    • If the revision scheme includes a Working copy level, you can check in a document multiple times at the working copy revision. The Vault contains one copy of the Working copy revision, which is overwritten each time you check in the document at that revision level. For example, the vault contains revisions PRE-01 and PRE-01+, and PRE-01+ is overwritten each time you check in the working copy.

  • You can increment the revision without checking in a document. Right-click the document and select Bump Document Revision. The vault administrator must allow revision bumping on the VaultAdmin Vault Settings tab.

When you bump the revision of a drawing document, the information is entered into the document properties but does not appear in the drawing's title block or in a revision table. To update a drawing's title block and revision table, use Check in Document.

  • Revision levels can be incremented only forward (from PRE-01 to PRE-02, for example), not backward.
