Using Filter Tools

You can filter features from the ECAD data using filter tools, which define filter criteria.

To filter using filter tools:

  1. Click the Tools tab (top of the CircuitWorks window).
  2. From the Filter section of the Tools toolbar, click the filter tool for the feature type you want to filter.

    Only filter tools for features contained in the open ECAD file are available.

  3. From the Filters panel (right side of the CircuitWorks window), select your filter criteria.

    CircuitWorks grays out the items in the preview image and tree view.

    You can eliminate filtered-out items from the preview image by clicking Filtered Items (Preview toolbar).

  • Annotation Filters
    Use the Annotation Filters panel to filter out annotations by their size or note text.
  • Component Filters - Basic
    Use the Component Filters Basic tab to filter out components using predefined filters.
  • Component Filters - Advanced
    Use the Component Filters Advanced tab to filter out components using rules-based filters.
  • Filled Area Filters
    Use the Filled Area Filters panel to filter out filled areas.
  • Hole Filters
    Use the Non-Plated Hole Filters and Plated Hole Filters panels to filter out holes by their size or type.
  • Outline Filters
    Use the Outline Filters panel to filter out board cutouts, keep-out areas, keep-in areas, and other outlines.
  • Pad Filters
    Use the Pad Filters panel to filter out pads by their type.
  • Trace Filters
    Use the Trace Filters panel to filter out traces by their size.
