Simulation Advisor Examples

The Simulation Advisor examples highlight different techniques for using loads, restraints, contact conditions, etc. The software does not include the study results by default. You must run the studies to see the results. A few of the default examples discuss:

  • Inserting or extracting a snap hook

  • Modelling the interaction between a shaft and a bearing

  • Placing a pin in shear

You can also add your own examples to highlight common problems or best practices for your design team.

To use an example:

  1. In the Design Library tab of the Task Pane, open the Analysis Library\Examples folder.

  2. Double-click one of the examples to open it in its own window.

  3. Investigate the example:

    • Click File, Properties and review the keywords and comments on the Summary tab.

    • Click a Simulation study tab to display its study tree. Right-click the study name and select Properties. Review the comments on the Remark tab.

    • Run the study and review the results.

To create an example:

  1. Create a part or assembly with all of the analysis features that you want to highlight.

  2. Click File, Properties, and on the Summary tab:

    1. Type keywords into the Keywords box. Use meaningful keywords that you can search.

    2. Type a description into the Comments box and click OK.

  3. Right-click the study name in the study tree and select Properties.

  4. On the Remark tab, type comments specific to the study and click OK.

  5. Click File, Save As.

    1. Select Analysis Lib Part (*.sldalprt) or Analysis Lib Assembly (*.sldalasm) in Save as type.

    2. Save the file in the <installation_directory>\data\Analysis Library\Examples folder or a sub-folder of the same path. Alternatively, you could define a different Analysis Library path.
