Saving Files as HTML Files

You can save files as SolidWorks eDrawings HTML files, then view them in a browser.

eDrawings HTML files can be viewed in Internet Explorer 5.5 and higher only.

You must have the SolidWorks eDrawings Viewer installed to view an eDrawings HTML file. If you do not have the eDrawings Viewer installed, it is automatically downloaded and installed when you open the eDrawings HTML file. In some cases, you may be prompted to reboot if any of the files required for installation are in use.

When you open the eDrawings HTML files in a browser, you can access certain eDrawings functionality.

To save files as eDrawings HTML files:

  1. Click File, Save As.

  1. Set Save as type to eDrawings HTML Files (*.htm).

  2. Select from the export options.

  3. Type the File name, then click Save.

Models

For models saved as eDrawings HTML files, you can:

  • Use most of the tools in the eDrawings Viewer.

  • Highlight features.

  • Right-click and do the following:

Drawings

For drawings that you save as eDrawings HTML files, you can do the following:

  • Use most of the tools displayed in the eDrawings Viewer.

  • Highlight drawing views.

  • Use hyperlinking of section lines and detail circles.

  • Right-click, select View, and zoom, pan, select, and enable or disable the Create Layout, 3D Pointer, and Shaded tools.

  • Right-click, select Animate Views, and select an animation option.
