Applying Forces

You can apply multiple forces to a single face or to multiple faces.

To apply a force:

  1. Click Add a force.

    The Force PropertyManager appears.

  2. In the graphics area, select the desired faces.
  3. Select:
    • Normal to apply the force in the direction normal to each selected face.
    • Selected direction to apply the specified force value to each face in the direction of its normal.
      Select a reference plane in the FeatureManager design tree.
  4. Select the force units first, then enter the force value.

    The specified force value is applied to each face. For example, if you select three faces and specify a 50 lb force, the program applies a total force of 150 lbs (50 lbs on each face).
    If necessary, select Reverse direction to reverse the direction of the force.

  5. Click .

    The force appears in the External Loads folder in the SimulationXpress study tree, and a check mark appears next to Loads in the SimulationXpress wizard.

    To add or edit a force, click Add a force or Edit an existing force or pressure. To delete a force, right-click the force in the study tree and select Delete. To change the name of the force, click-pause-click the force name in the study tree and type the new name. You can also edit a force in the SimulationXpress study tree by right-clicking the force and selecting Edit Definition.

  6. Click Next.
