Applying Pressure

You can apply multiple pressures to a single face or to multiple faces. The program applies pressure loads normal to each face.

To apply a pressure:

  1. Click Add a pressure.

    The Pressure PropertyManager appears.

  2. In the graphics area, click the desired faces.
  3. Select:
    • Normal to selected face to apply the pressure in the direction normal to each selected face.
    • Use reference geometry to apply the pressure in the direction of a selected reference plane.
      You need to select a reference plane in the FeatureManager design tree.
  4. Select the pressure units, then enter the pressure value.

    If necessary, select Reverse direction to reverse the direction of the pressure.

  5. Click .

    The pressure appears in the External Loads folder in the SimulationXpress study tree and a check mark appears next to Loads in the SimulationXpress wizard.

    To add or edit a pressure, click Add a pressure or Edit an existing force or pressure. To delete a pressure, right-click the pressure in the study tree and select Delete. To change the name of the pressure, click-pause-click the pressure name in the study tree and type the new name. You can also edit a pressure in the SimulationXpress study tree by right-clicking the pressure and selecting Edit Definition.

  6. Click Next.
