Adding Coverings

You can add coverings to any route. Coverings represent material such as insulation or split sleeves placed on routed items to protect them. You can:

  • Display the covering in assemblies, drawings views, and Bills of Materials.

  • Create a part file for the covering.

For a covering material to be available for selection, you must first define it in the Materials Editor or in an XML file.

To add a covering to a route:

  1. Do one of the following:

    • Click Covering (Routing Tools toolbar) or Routing, Routing Tools, Covering.

    • Right-click a route segment and select Covering.

  1. Set options in the Covering PropertyManager.

  2. Click .

To add a covering to only a portion of a route, use Split Route to split the route.

Differences between the PropertyManagers

You can create a covering along the entire length of the harness using the Covering option from the Route Properties PropertyManager.

However, if you need to create or modify coverings more precisely, the Covering option from the Routing Tools toolbar allows you to add or edit a covering on a segment by segment basis.
