XPS (XML Paper Specification) Files

You can create XPS (XML Paper Specification) files in SolidWorks and open the files in the SolidWorks eDrawings Viewer or XPS Viewer.

The XPS translator is an Add-In to SolidWorks. In the Add-In dialog box, select SolidWorks XPS Driver to make the XPS format available in the Save As dialog box.

To save files in XPS format:

  1. Click File, Save As.

  2. For Save as type, select:

  • Microsoft XML Paper Specification (*.eprtx). Part documents.

  • Microsoft XML Paper Specification (*.easmx).  Assembly documents.

  • Microsoft XML Paper Specification (*.edrwx). Drawing documents.

  1. Enter a file name and click Save.

The XPS Viewer is available automatically with the Microsoft Vista operating system. It is distributed with Microsoft .NET Framework 3.0, which is installed with SolidWorks on Microsoft XP and Server 2003 operating systems.
