EnableBackgroundProcessing Property (ISldWorks)

Gets or sets whether to enable background processing.

.NET Syntax

Visual Basic (Declaration)
Property EnableBackgroundProcessing As Boolean
Visual Basic (Usage)
Dim instance As ISldWorks
Dim value As Boolean
instance.EnableBackgroundProcessing = value
value = instance.EnableBackgroundProcessing
bool EnableBackgroundProcessing {get; set;}
property bool EnableBackgroundProcessing {
   bool get();
   void set (bool value);

Return Value

True to enable background processing, false to not

SolidWorks recommends that you only use this property with ISldWorks::IsBackgroundProcessingCompleted when you can open a drawing document quickly via the user interface, but that same drawing takes significantly more time to open when opened programmatically.

To more efficiently open a drawing document, that requires a lot of CPU time and no user input, programmatically:

  1. Set ISldWorks::EnableBackgroundProcessing to true.
  2. Open the huge drawing document by calling either ISldWorks::OpenDoc6 or ISldWorks::OpenDoc7.
  3. Repeatedly request the status of the open operation by calling ISldWorks::IsBackgroundProcessingCompleted.
  4. When the open operation is finished, set ISldWorks::EnableBackgroundProcessing to false.
