Vaults

SolidWorks Enterprise PDM vaults store the files and information about items and files (metadata) managed by Enterprise PDM.

The vault view is connected to:
  • The archive server, which stores the physical files in a vault archive.
  • The vault database, which stores information about files, items, and activities in the vault.

  • Creating and Distributing Vaults

    To add a file to a vault, place it in a local vault view, a working folder where all intermediate file modifications are performed.

  • Collecting Support Information

    The Collect Support Information wizard lets you collect information about an Enterprise PDM vault into a single package that you can send to SolidWorks Technical Support.

  • Deleting a Vault

    Deleting a vault permanently removes the vault database and archives.

  • Vault Settings

    You customize your Enterprise PDM environment by using the Administration tool to add and modifying vault settings.

  • Vault Archives

    The physical files in a vault are stored in an archive folder under the archive server root folder. The archive folder structure uses hexadecimal ID names and is maintained in the vault database with decimal ID names.

  • Cold Storage Schemas

    Create a cold storage schema in a vault to automatically move or delete older file versions from the vault archives. You can opt to set up a schema for all files in the vault or for files under specific folders only.

  • Enterprise PDM Reports

    SolidWorks Enterprise PDM includes a Report Generator that lets users create, save, and print detailed reports from file information in a vault.
