Viewing the Results of the Design Study

Click the Results View tab to see the results of the study you run.

Clicking a scenario updates the model in the graphics window with the variables of that scenario. The following table explains the significance of the colors of scenarios.

Scenario Color Meaning Example
Green

(available only for Optimization Design Study)

Indicates the best or optimal scenario.
Red Indicates violation of one or more constraints by the scenario.
Background color Indicates current scenario and all scenarios that are not optimal or faulty.
Gray text with the same background color used for the tree view Indicates failure to rebuild the scenario.

You can plot simulation results in addition to viewing the values of variables, constraints, and goals for the different scenarios. On the left frame of a Design Study tab, under Results and Graphs , select a sensor to plot the associated simulation result.

Design History Graph PropertyManager

The PropertyManager lets you plot a 2D graph of a design variable, objective (goal), or constraint with respect to the scenario number. The graph is not available if you use continuous variables.

To display the PropertyManager, from the left frame of a Design Study tab, right-click Results and Graphs and select Define Design History Graph.

Scenario X-Axis

The program plots the scenario number along the abscissa.

Y-Axis

Design Variable Plots the variation of the variable you selected from the list of parameters.
Objective Plots the variation of the goal you selected from the list of sensors.
Constraint Plots the variation of the constraint you selected from the list of sensors.
Extra Location Available when you select Constraint for Y-Axis. Plots the variation of constraint at the selected locations defined through a Workflow Sensitive Simulation Data sensor.

Local Trend Graph PropertyManager

The PropertyManager lets you plot a 2D graph of an objective (goal) or a constraint with respect to a design variable. The graph is not available if you use discrete variables and select High Quality for the study quality.

To display the PropertyManager, from the left frame of a Design Study tab, right-click Results and Graphs and select Define Local Trend Graph.

Design variables (X-Axis)

The program plots the selected variable along the abscissa.

Y-Axis

Objective Plots the variation of the goal you selected from the list of sensors.
Constraint Plots the variation of the constraint you selected from the list of sensors.
Normalized to initial value Plots the variation of the ratio of the selected sensor's current value to its initial value in the initial scenario.
Local trend at Sets the other design variables to the values determined from the selected iteration.
