Adding an Archive Server

To create a vault, you must be able to connect to an archive server. You can add an archive server if it is installed but is not visible in the Enterprise PDM Administration tool.

To add an archive server:

  1. Start the Administration tool by doing one of the following:
    • On Windows 7 and Windows Server systems prior to Windows Server 2012, from the Windows Start menu, select All Programs > SOLIDWORKS Enterprise PDM > Administration.
    • On Windows 8 and Windows Server 2012 or later, on the Apps screen, under SOLIDWORKS Enterprise PDM, click Administration.
  2. Select File > Add Server.
  3. In the Add Server dialog box, for Server name, do one:
    • Select the server to add from the list.
    • If the server is not listed (for example, if it is located on another network leg), type the system name or IP address.

The archive server name might not be shown if a firewall is blocking port 3030.

  4. Click OK.

The server appears in the left pane.

  5. Log in as a Windows user with rights to attach to the archive server.

If you are using an account that does not have attach rights, see Logging in to an Archive Server.
