Example - Changing Revision Numbering for Different Workflow States

In this example, revision numbering changes from Rev 1, Rev 2, ... in the pre-release workflow to Rev A, Rev B, ... in the release workflow.

To change revision numbering for different states of a workflow:

  1. Create two revision number components:

    Component name Initial counter value Format string
    Numbers 1 Number 0
    Letters 1 A,B,C,...,Z

  2. Create two revision numbers:

    Revision number name Revision number format string
    Pre-release Rev Numbers
    Release Rev Letters

  3. In the pre-release workflow states, on the Revision Numbers tab, select Pre-release from the list of revision numbers.
  4. In the release workflow states, on the Revision Numbers tab, select Release from the list of revision numbers.
  5. Click Save or File > Save to save the workflows.
  6. To test the revision numbering, move a file through the workflows, manually updating the revision numbers.
