Remote Loads and Restraints

Remote loads, restraints, and masses can simplify a model.

Displacement (Direct transfer) is available for nonlinear studies only. Connects the remote location, at which translation and rotations are applied, to the center of the selected faces by a rigid bar. The selected faces deform accordingly

  • Remote Load (Direct Transfer)

    You can use this option when the omitted component is adequately flexible but its displacements are still within the small displacement assumption.

  • Remote Load (Rigid Connection)

    Use this PropertyManager to define concentrated forces, moments, and a mass at a remote location.

  • Remote Displacement (Rigid Connection)

    You can use this option when the replaced components are adequately rigid with respect to the modeled components and you know the remote translations and/or rotations that can replace its effect on the rest of the model.

  • Remote Mass

    In studies where you are not interested in the detailed results of a solid body, you can consider its effect on the rest of the structure by treating it as a Remote Mass.

  • Remote Loads/Mass PropertyManager
