Sketch Text PropertyManager

You can sketch text on the face of a part and extrude or cut the text. The text can be inserted on any set of continuous curves or edges, including circles or profiles made up of lines, arcs, or splines.

To open the Sketch Text PropertyManager, do one of the following:

  • Create new sketch text.
  • Edit existing sketch text. Right-click the text and select Properties.

You can specify the following properties in the Sketch Text PropertyManager.

Curves

PM_edges_curves_sketches_sketch_segments.png Select Edges, Curves, Sketches, Sketch segments Select edges, curves, sketches, or sketch segments. The name of the selected entity appears in the box, and the text appears along the entity.

Text

  Text Type text in the Text box. The text appears along the selected entity in the graphics area. If no entity is selected, the text appears horizontally starting at the origin.
PM_note_Link_to_Property.gif Link to Property Lets you link the sketched text to a custom property. You can configure the text using design tables.
  Style You can select individual characters, or groups of characters, to apply Bold PM_Text_Bold.gif or Italic PM_Text_Italic.gif or to Rotate PM_Text_Rotate.gif.

Select the text in the Text box, and click Rotate PM_Text_Rotate.gif to rotate the selected text 30 degrees counterclockwise. For other rotation angles, select the text, click Rotate and then edit the code in the Text box. For example, for an angle of 10 degrees clockwise, replace <r30> with <r-10>. To return to zero degrees rotation, delete the code and brackets. For angles of 180 degrees, use the Flip Vertical or Flip Horizontal buttons.

  Alignment Justify the text Left Align justify_left.png Button, Center Align justify_center.png Button, Right Align justify_right.png Button, or Full Justify PM_Text_Justify_Full.gif. Alignment is available only for text along a curve, edge, or sketch segment.
  Flip Flip the text in the Flip Vertical PM_Text_Flip_Vert.gif direction and back PM_Text_Flip_Vert_back.gif, or in the Flip Horizontal PM_Text_Flip_Horiz.gif direction and back PM_Text_Flip_Horiz_back.gif. Flip Vertical is available only for text along a curve, edge, or sketch segment.
PM_Text_Width_Factor.gif Width Factor Widen each character evenly by the specified percentage. Width Factor is not available when Use document's font is selected
PM_Text_Spacing.gif Spacing Change the spacing between each character by the specified percentage. Spacing is not available when the text is fully justified or when Use document's font is selected.
  Use document's font Clear to choose another font.
  Font Click to open the Font dialog box and choose a font style and size.
