Examples: Cosmetic Thread Interferences

In these examples, the top block has a clearance hole:

The bottom block has a threaded hole (M10 x 1.5 thread):

Different screws are used in each example.

Example 1: Matching Cosmetic Threads

The cosmetic threads of the screw and the hole are identical (M10 x 1.5 hole and M10 x 1.5 screw). An interference is detected, but because the cosmetic threads match, the interference is moved to the Matching cosmetic threads folder.

Example 2: Mismatched Thread Specification

The cosmetic threads of the screw and the hole are different (M10 x 1.5 hole and M10 x 1.25 screw). Because the cosmetic threads do not match, the interference is listed under Results.

Example 3: Misaligned Threaded Components

The cosmetic threads of the screw and the hole are identical (M10 x 1.5 hole and M10 x 1.5 screw). Because the threaded components are misaligned, they are flagged as interfering, even if the cosmetic threads are properly matched. The interference is listed under Results.

Example 4: Other Interfering Geometry

The cosmetic threads of the screw and the hole are identical (M10 x 1.5 hole and M10 x 1.5 screw). The screw is threaded for only part of the length of the shaft. Because the unthreaded portion of the screw interferes with the threaded portion of the hole, the components are flagged as interfering. The interference is listed under Results.
