Overview of 2D Command Line Emulator

The 2D Command Line Emulator is a SolidWorks Add-In that allows you to type commands as you would in AutoCAD.

SolidWorks 2D Emulator is only available in the 32-bit version of SolidWorks. It is not available in the 64-bit version of SolidWorks.

To activate the 2D Command Line Emulator:

Click Tools > Add-Ins and select SolidWorks 2D Emulator from the list of add-ins.

The command line appears at the bottom of the screen when you open a document.

To turn off the emulator:

Click Tools > Add-Ins again, and clear the SolidWorks 2D Emulator check box.

To access the 2D Command Line Emulator Help:

Type Help on the command line or click Help > 2D Command Emulator Help when the emulator is active.

The SolidWorks software supports the AutoCAD commands described in the following topics. Commands beginning with an apostrophe (') can be used as Transparent Commands.

    Click an object to select it in response to a prompt Select objects. A message such as "1 found" or "0 found" appears.

  • Specifying Coordinates

    When specifying points with the pointer, click the first point and move the pointer to the next point. A preview shows you the placement and size of the entity. When you are satisfied, click the second point.

  • Previews

    As you proceed through command prompts, previews show you the results of possible actions.

  • PropertyManager

    In the SolidWorks software, PropertyManager is available for editing properties such as coordinates, angles, and other values for the entity (POINT, LINE, CIRCLE, ELLIPSE, or POLYGON) that you draw. The properties available are different for each type of entity.
