- Highlighting
Items in the graphics area are highlighted when you select them, or dynamically highlighted when you move the pointer over them.
- Select
You can use the Select tool to exit a command and return to select mode, which is useful when in sketches and with the viewing tools.
- Box Selection
You can select all entity types in parts, assemblies, and drawings by dragging a selection box with the pointer.
- Selecting Items by Lasso
You can select items in the graphics area with a lasso.
- Cross Selection
When you box select from left to right, only items completely within the box are selected. When you cross select from right to left, items crossing the box boundaries are selected, in addition to the items within the box.
- Select All
Select All selects everything in the graphics area, as if you made a box selection covering the entire area.
- Invert Selection
When you select items (usually a small number) and invert the selection, all other similar items in the document are selected and the original selections are canceled.
- Select Loop
You can select a loop of connecting edges on a part. Hidden edges are selected in all view modes.
- Select Chain
You can select a chain of entities attached to the selected entity in both directions until a branch is encountered.
- Select Other
Selects entities that are hidden by other entities.
- Selection Filter
Selection Filters help select specific types of items in the graphics area or drawing sheet. For example, choose the filter for faces so only faces can be selected.
- Selecting from the FeatureManager Design Tree
You can select single, multiple, or nonconsecutive items in the FeatureManager design tree.
- Tangent Selection
You can select a group of tangent curves, edges, or faces. You can then apply a feature, such as fillet or a chamfer, to the selection. Hidden edges are selected in all view modes.

You can select opaque objects through transparent objects.

- Using the Magnifying Glass
Use the magnifying glass to inspect a model and make selections without changing the overall view. These actions facilitate selection of entities for operations such as creating mates.
- Right-click Advance Selection
Right-click a graphics area Advance pointer to advance through PropertyManager selections when multiple selections are required.
- Select Partial Loop
Imported models can contain many small edges. To repair or edit imported models, you often need to select a series of connecting edges.
