File Distribution Best Practices

You can distribute drawings and assemblies files to be viewed with the eDrawings Viewer.

When you distribute SolidWorks drawings (.slddrw) or assemblies (.sldasm) files to be viewed with the eDrawings Viewer, subsequent changes to referenced parts and assemblies are not reflected in the distributed files.

As a best practice, distribute drawings and assemblies files in eDrawings format, which always requires updates when referenced parts are modified. If this is not possible, redistribute the updated SolidWorks parent drawings and assemblies each time you modify the referenced parts.
