Restoring Files from Cold Storage

You can retrieve files from cold storage for any archive server to which you have access if your administrator has granted you permission.

You can only select one file at a time to restore. However, if a selected file such as an assembly contains references, both the parent file and the referenced files can be retrieved in one restore operation.

You can only restore files that were removed from the vault by moving archive files to a folder outside the archive. If your administrator set up cold storage to delete archive files, you cannot restore them.

    Typically, cold stored files are saved on backup tapes or other media. To access the files, the storage media must be made available.

  • Restoring a Single File

    The simplest restore operation is for a single file that does not contain references.

  • Restoring a File and Its References

    Although you can only select one file to restore from cold storage, if the selected file contains references, you can restore the parent file and the files it links to in a single restore operation.

  • Get From Cold Storage Dialog Box

    Use the Get From Cold Storage dialog box to confirm which cold stored files are restored.
