Colors When Editing a Component

When you edit a component (part or subassembly) in the context of an assembly, colors indicate which component is being edited. In the FeatureManager design tree, the text related to the component turns blue. In the graphics area, the component turns opaque blue, and the rest of the assembly turns transparent gray. You can change the colors used in Edit Component mode, or you can turn off the colors.

You can also change the transparency used in Edit Component mode.

Changing the Colors Used in Edit Component Mode

To change the colors used in Edit Component mode:

  1. Click Options (Standard toolbar) or Tools > Options.
  2. On the System Options tab, click Colors.
  3. Under Color scheme settings, select one of the following:
    • Assembly, Edit Part
    • Assembly, Hidden Lines of Edit Part
    • Assembly, Non-Edit Parts
  4. Click Edit, select a color from the palette, then click OK.
  5. Repeat steps 3 and 4 to change colors for other selections.
  6. Select Use specified colors when editing parts in assemblies.
  7. Click OK.

    You must turn off RealView to see these colors in the model.

Turning Off the Colors Used in Edit Component Mode

To turn off the colors used in Edit Component mode:

  1. Click Options (Standard toolbar) or Tools > Options.
  2. On the System Options tab, click Colors.
  3. Clear Use specified colors when editing parts in assemblies.
  4. Click OK.

    Now when you edit a component in the context of an assembly, the component no longer changes color in the graphics area. However, in the FeatureManager design tree, the text still changes to the color selected for Assembly, Edit Part
