Sorting a Multiple-Property List

You can build more complex sorting scenarios by adding columns to the Assembly Visualization list and then adding those columns to the sorting hierarchy.

To add a new column:

  1. On the Assembly Visualization tab , right-click a column header and select Add Column.

A new column is added to the right of the column you clicked. The property in the new column is the same as the property in the original column.

  2. Click the arrow to the right of the column header and change to another property. See Changing the Listed Property for more details.
  3. To add the property to the sorting hierarchy, right-click the column header and click Add to Sort Hierarchy.

A sorting widget appears under the column title. You can click the column header to sort in reverse order.

When multiple columns have sorting widgets, the hierarchy of the sort is from left to right. Drag a column header to move a column left or right, which moves it up or down in the sorting hierarchy.
If value bars or the color spectrum are active, they apply to the left-most sorting property.

  4. You can right-click a column header and select the following:

    • Remove from Sort Hierarchy. Removes the column from the sorting hierarchy. The column remains, but it is not used in determining the order in which the list is sorted. The sorting widget disappears.
    • Delete Current. Deletes the column you right-clicked. The minimum number of columns is three. The File Name and Quantity columns cannot be deleted.
You can adjust the width of a column to fit the column contents by double-clicking the column separator.
