Tree View

The CircuitWorks tree view is a hierarchical display of ECAD data.

To display the tree:

Open an ECAD file. The tree is on the left side of the CircuitWorks application.

From the tree, you can:
  • Double-click a parent item or click the icon to display its children.
  • Click an item to highlight it in the preview image.
  • Right-click an item to select a command.
You can display the CircuitWorks tree in SOLIDWORKS by clicking the CircuitWorks tab. See Using the CircuitWorks Feature Tree.

Tree Commands

You can perform operations from the tree by right-clicking an item:

Filter Out / Filter In Filter out or in the selected item. See Filters.
Zoom to Selection Zoom to the selected item. See Preview Toolbar for additional zoom controls.
Zoom to Fit  
Sort Sort tree items:
  • Ascending (alphabetical order, A-Z)
  • Descending (reverse alphabetical order, Z-A)
Goto Locate an item in the tree.
Properties View and optionally edit item properties. See Properties.
Build Model Create a SOLIDWORKS part model for the selected board or component. See Building Component Models.

Tree Nodes

The parent nodes you see depend on the data in the open ECAD file.

Icons can have several variations. For example, for components:
Filtered out (will not be modeled)
Not in the Component Library (will need to be modeled by CircuitWorks)
Zero-height (will be modeled as a 2D sketch)
CircuitWorks uses the latest Enterprise PDM or Workgroup PDM version of the component.
