Specify the folder and template file for automatically created parts, assemblies, and drawings. For example, when you import a file from another application or create a derived part, the default template is used for the new document.
To prepare a template for use as a default, create the document template, add it to a template tab, and specify the template location.
To change the default template:
- Click Options or .
- Select Default Templates.
- Click the appropriate browse button (Parts, Assemblies, or Drawings).
- In the New SOLIDWORKS Document dialog box, select the template you prepared and click OK.
- Select:
- Always use these default document templates
- Prompt user to select document template
- Click OK.
Click Reset to restore factory defaults for all system options or only for options on this page.
