Example of Creating a Louver

This example illustrates the steps of how to create a louver as a forming tool.

1. Create a base extrude on which to create the louver.
   
   

   A base is not required, but it can make the louver creation easier.

2. Sketch and dimension a layout sketch to provide a basis for the louver.
   
   

   The layout sketch is also used as the placement, or orientation sketch. An orientation sketch is the sketch used for placing the forming tool. When you insert the forming tool in a sheet metal part, the placement sketch is where you can dimension the forming tool in relation to existing geometry.

   A layout sketch is not required, but it can help you create the basis of how the final louver should appear.

3. Sketch and extrude the louver profile.
   
   
4. Create two revolved bosses to round out the louver.
   
   
5. Add a fillet around the bottom edge of the louver.
   
   
6. Use an extruded cut to remove the base so that only the louver remains.
   
   
7. Use the Forming Tool tool to convert the louver into a forming tool.
