Example - Assigning Categories by File Type

In this example, you define an "Engineering Files" category for all CAD files (.dwg files, .dxf, .dwf, .cal).

  1. Right-click Categories and select New category.
  2. From the Category dialog box, type Engineering Files for Name.
  3. Under Conditions, click Or to create an OR container.
  4. Create a condition for .dwg files (see Creating Conditions for Workflows):
    1. With the OR container selected, click New .
    2. Under Type, click Click here to change, then click again and select Filepath.
    3. Under Argument, click to display the text box and type the file format: %.dwg.
  5. Repeat the previous step for the other CAD file types (.dxf, .dwf, .cal).
  6. Click OK.
  7. To test the category, check in new files of each type and confirm they are assigned the Engineering Files category.
