Hardware Boss - Head

pm_hardwareboss_v2 Enter boss height

Sets the boss parameters.
  • A. Defines height of boss
  • B. Defines diameter of boss
  • C. Defines diameter of the boss step
  • D. Defines height of the boss step
  • E. Defines draft angle of the main boss
  • F. Defines diameter of the inside hole
  • G. Defines diameter of the inside counter bore
  • H. Defines depth of the inside counter bore
  • I. Defines draft angle of the inside hole

You can set the Step Height parameter to 0 if you do not want the boss to include a step.

The Diameter parameter should be the diameter at the top of the boss, not the bottom. This helps ensure that the top of the head boss will mate properly with the top of the thread boss.
  Select mating face Activates the Mating face box and deactivates the Boss height box.
Mating face

Defines the face to mate to the top of the boss. The software automatically calculates the boss height. If you change the height of the mating face, the boss height changes too.

You can mate the boss to a face that does not contact the boss. For example, the mating face and the boss can be side-by-side.

In the image, the mating face is the bottom of the lid (transparent). The boss height is automatically calculated based on the mating face. The green highlighted edges show the mating face meeting the boss. The mounting pin penetrates the lid.

clearance_button Set clearance value for the boss height You can set a Clearance for the boss height and adjust it with the spin arrows. The clearance is the space between the two bosses, and is calculated as an offset of the specified height value.
