Applying a Decal

We recommend that you apply a decal to a part, rather than to an assembly. In a part, you control the faces to which to apply the decal. In an assembly, you cannot select specific faces.
  1. In the Task Pane, select the Appearances, Scenes, and Decals tab.
  2. Expand Decals and select the decals folder or a folder containing custom decals.
  3. In the lower pane, identify the decal to apply and do one of the following:
    • Drag the decal to an entity of the model, such as a face or surface. Manipulators appear with the decal and the Decals PropertyManager opens.
    • Select a reference on the model and do one of the following:
      • Double-click the decal.
      • Right-click the decal and select Add Decal to selection(s).
Manipulators appear with the decal and the Decals PropertyManager opens.
    • Do one of the following:
      • Double-click the decal.
      • Right-click the decal, select Add Decal to part.

Follow the instructions under Message in the Decals PropertyManager.

    • Drag the decal to an empty region of the graphics area to apply the decal to the entire model. Manipulators appear with the decal and the Decals PropertyManager opens. You rarely need to apply a decal to an entire model.
You can also add decals in the following ways:
  • In the DisplayManager, click View Decals . Right-click in the DisplayManager and click Add Decals.
  • Click Edit Decal Decals_button.gif in the Render Tools toolbar.
  • Right-click an existing decal, click Appearances Appearances.gif, and select the decal from the drop-down list
  • With PhotoView 360:
    • Click PhotoView 360 > Edit Decal. In the PropertyManager, click Browse.
    • On the Render Tools tab of the CommandManager, click Edit Decal.
