Import of Visual Properties

The SOLIDWORKS software analyzes incoming colors and combines them when assigning them to a new SOLIDWORKS part or assembly. This reduces the number of visual properties created when you import files with appearances and saves time loading the imported models.

The results of the analysis are:

  • When an imported file contains the same color definitions for every face on a body, the software creates a single body appearance.
  • When the file contains the same color definitions for every body in a part, the software creates a single part appearance.
  • When an imported assembly contains the same color definitions for every component in the assembly, the software creates a single assembly appearance.

Colors that are defined on features in the imported file are kept in the final model.
