Sweep Redesign

The workflow and interface for all sweep features has improved.

Controls, group boxes, and options have been rearranged and updated to accommodate enhancements which include the ability to create bidirectional sweeps and to choose between two types of profiles, Sketch Profile and Circular Profile.

Sketch Profile is similar to existing functionality where you create a sweep by moving a 2D sketch profile along a 2D or 3D sketch path, but it provides more options. Circular Profile lets you create a sweep directly on a model without having to work in a sketch.

These changes impact the PropertyManagers for the features. You can access these PropertyManagers from:
  • Swept Boss/Base (Features toolbar) or Insert > Boss/Base > Sweep
  • Swept Cut (Features toolbar) or Insert > Cut > Sweep
  • Swept Surface (Surfaces toolbar) or Insert > Surface > Sweep

  • Creating a Bidirectional Sweep

    You can create sweeps for a mid-path profile in either direction or the entire path using Bidirectional.

  • Creating Rods and Tubes with a Circular Profile

    You can use the Circular Profile option to create a solid rod or hollow tube along a sketch line, edge, or curve directly on a model without having to sketch. This sweep is available for Swept Boss/Base, Swept Cut, and Swept Surface features.
