New/Edit Template - Execute as

Use this screen to select which user's permissions to use when running the template.

To display this screen:

  1. Do one of the following:
    • To create a new template, right-click Templates and click New Template.
    • To edit an existing template, double-click the template.
  2. In the left pane, click Execute as.
Use the permissions from logged in user

This option is recommended. SOLIDWORKS PDM uses the folder and state permissions of the user running the template. Ensure that the user has sufficient rights in the vault to create new folders and files.

Read permissions from the following user

Use the folder and state permissions of the specified user. Enter the User name and Password of a user with sufficient vault permissions to create folders and files.

Use this option when the logged-in user may not have sufficient vault permissions (for example, a template creates folders but not all users who will run the template have the create-folder permission). When a user runs the template, the assigned user's permissions are temporarily used.
