Migrating Existing Toolbox Libraries

Full management of Toolbox by SOLIDWORKS PDM requires that the entire Toolbox library be located in a SOLIDWORKS PDM vault.

If you are installing Toolbox for the first time, specify a SOLIDWORKS PDM vault as the Toolbox installation location.

If all or part of the Toolbox library was previously installed outside the vault, migrate the library to a SOLIDWORKS PDM vault.

    There are several migration scenarios for Toolbox integration, depending on your version of SOLIDWORKS and SOLIDWORKS PDM, how you previously managed Toolbox, and how you want to manage Toolbox files now.

  • Migrating from Partial to Complete Toolbox Integration

    If you are using partial Toolbox integration, where the master library is outside the vault but part files also exist in the vault, consolidate the library in the vault before installing or upgrading SOLIDWORKS and configuring the SOLIDWORKS integration.

  • Migrating a Shared Toolbox

    You can migrate an existing shared Toolbox library into a SOLIDWORKS PDM vault.

  • Post-Migration Instructions for Toolbox Users

    When Toolbox migration is complete, instruct users to delete existing Toolbox paths and use File Explorer instead of SOLIDWORKS to check in assemblies that use Toolbox parts.
