Sending New ProStep EDMD Data to ECAD Designers

With ProStep EDMD enabled, you can send new ProStep EDMD data to ECAD designers after exporting a SOLIDWORKS model to CircuitWorks, or after saving ECAD data to ProStep EDMD .

Before sending ProStep EDMD file information, you must enable ProStep EDMD file syncing.

  1. Open the model in the CircuitWorks application:
    • Create the model in SOLIDWORKS, click CircuitWorks > Export to CircuitWorks, and follow the prompts to complete the model export.
    • Click Tools > CircuitWorks > Open ECAD File and select an ECAD file that is not of type ProStep EDMD.
  2. On the EDMD tab, click Sync with ECAD sw_sync_tool.gif.
The Sync with ECAD dialog box displays a summary of the messages to be sent with the ProStep EDMD data.
  3. In the dialog box, click <Click to edit note> to add an optional note, and click OK.
New ProStep EDMD data is saved to the shared folder as a ProStep EDMD Baseline file.
Changed ProStep EDMD data is saved as a ProStep EDMD Changes file.
If you sync by email, in addition to placing the ProStep EDMD file in the shared folder, the CircuitWorks software attaches new ProStep EDMD file to an outgoing email.
