Convert Files

You can create a task to convert files from an earlier release of SOLIDWORKS to the current release. This optimizes them for the latest software enhancements.

You can:
  • Create a task for converting files using your computer.
  • Create a distributed task that runs on a group of computers.

A conversion task analyzes the references in a file before converting it. For example, a task converts referenced parts before it converts an assembly.

In distributed file conversion, you first use Network Monitor to set up a group of computers that share the processing load. Then you schedule distributed tasks using the Convert Files task. Computers scheduling distributed tasks must have a SOLIDWORKS Professional, SOLIDWORKS Premium, or SOLIDWORKS Office license.
