Accessing SLDXML Data with SOLIDWORKS 3DEXPERIENCE Smartlink

Using the SOLIDWORKS 3DEXPERIENCE Smartlink add-in, you can access additional data from .SLDXML files that have been output from SOLIDWORKS 3DEXPERIENCE applications.

To access .SLDXML data with SOLIDWORKS 3DEXPERIENCE Smartlink:

  1. Turn on the SOLIDWORKS 3DEXPERIENCE Smartlink add-in:
    1. Click Tools > Add-Ins.
    2. In the dialog box, under Other Add-ins, select Active Add-ins and Start Up for SOLIDWORKS 3DEXPERIENCE Smartlink.
    3. Click OK.
  2. Click File > Open.
  3. In the dialog box, navigate to the location of the .SLDXML files and select a file.
  4. For file type, select .SLDXML and click Options.
  5. On the SLDXML screen, select one or more options and click OK.
    • Read sketch data
    • Read sketch objects in a mechanism sketch as blocks
    • Read assembly mates data
  6. To create single faces, for example for cylindrical entities, click General and click Merge Entities.
  7. Click Open.
    A message box shows the progress of the data being read into the SOLIDWORKS file.

    The design opens and the model hierarchy appears in the FeatureManager design tree.
