Setting Use Options

Where a part is used, how it is transported, and its end of life disposal have significant effects on its environmental impact.

  1. In the Sustainability Task Pane, in the Use section, use the Region drop-down list or click in the map to select where the part is used.
The Transportation and End of Life sections of the Task Pane update with default values for the Use region you select.

In SustainabilityXpress, these values can only be changed by changing the Use region.

In full Sustainability, you can edit the values.

  2. If you are using full Sustainability:
    1. To add or modify a Transportation mode, click the relevant button and edit the field that activates.
      Your choices are:
      • tool_sustainability_train.gif Train
      • tool_sustainability_truck.gif Truck
      • tool_sustainability_boat.gif Boat
      • tool_sustainability_plane.gif Plane

If you edit a field, it turns yellow and a Reset to Defaults button appears to let you discard your changes.

    2. In the End of Life section, the values are linked so that they always equal 100%.
If you change the percentages for product disposal, the affected fields turn yellow and a Reset to Defaults button appears to let you discard your changes.
