Setting Up Rules-based Costing

To set up rules-based Costing:

  1. Open a machined part and click Tools > SOLIDWORKS Applications > Costing .
  2. Under Method, select Machining.
  3. In the Costing Task Pane, under Costing Templates, click Launch Template Editor.
  4. In the Costing Template Editor, click Rules.
  5. Under Name, type a Rule name and under Category select IF/THEN.
  6. Under Structure, select IF a material is chosen, THEN add a custom operation.
  7. Under Definition, click <Select a material>.
  8. In the Rule Input dialog box, under Select a Material, set options for Select Class and Select Material.
  9. Click OK.
  10. Under Definition, click <Select a custom operation>.
  11. In the Rule Input dialog box, set an option for Select a custom operation.
  12. Click Save As and enter a name.
    The template is saved in the defined location.
    You can only copy and paste material-based rules with their defined parameters to another row. You can define the remaining rules only once.
