Configuring SOLIDWORKS PDM

You expand a vault node in the left pane to access the administration options for the vault.

Add-ins Manage applications that are added in to SOLIDWORKS PDM Professional, such as Dispatch. You can debug add-ins before you add them to a vault, track actions for specific add-ins, and view the history of all add-ins that have been installed.

SOLIDWORKS PDM Add-ins (For SOLIDWORKS PDM Professional only)

Bill of Materials Create or modify Bill of Materials, Weldment BOM and Weldment Cut List formats for CAD assemblies and drawings.

Bills of Materials

Cards Add and modify data cards used in the vault.

Cards show information about files and folders. Users can view and input information and use it to search the vault without needing a local copy of the file or folder.

Categories Create or modify categories to classify documents in the vault.

Categories contain conditions that are evaluated the first time a file is checked in so that the file is assigned to the correct category.

Cold Storage Define cold storage schemas to control how files in the vault are archived.

Columns Define columns to customize the display of data in the file list or search results.

File Types Specify file type properties that control how files with references and specific file extensions behave when working in the Explorer interface.

Indexing Set up the SOLIDWORKS PDM Professional indexing service to create an index service catalog for the vault. The catalog lets users query the master index, word lists, and shadow indexes for word combinations.

Items Select the serial number used to generate unique item IDs and the variable used as the item display name.

License View, add, or modify SOLIDWORKS PDM licenses.

Revisions Define the revision numbering scheme used by your company to facilitate document retrieval and control user access.

Serial Numbers Configure how serial numbers are generated to automate numbering of files, folders, and items, and to assign running values to card controls.

Tasks Configure, monitor, and run the Convert and Print tasks that ship with SOLIDWORKS PDM, and add tasks for add-ins you create using the API.
