Linearize Stress PropertyManager

In a pressure vessel study, separate and linearize membrane and bending stresses between two locations in a sectional stress plot.

Stress linearization separates bending and membrane stresses for solid mesh models. For shells, you can plot and list membrane and bending stresses separately.

To open the Linearize Stress PropertyManager, run a pressure vessel study and define a planar sectional stress plot. You can plot any stress component. Right-click the stress plot and select Linearize.

Options

Locations Select two locations on the model's section that define the line along which the stresses are reported.
Number of intermediate points Defines the resolution of the graph along the line. The software interpolates stress between the first and last point to find stress results at intermediate points.
  Calculate

Calculates the membrane and bending stresses at the selected locations and intermediate points.

Stress results at the two selected points are listed in the Global coordinate system.
You can view the full range of results, including intermediate points, using Report Options described below.

Report Options

Save As Sensor Saves the coordinates of the two location points as sensors.
Save Saves the results to an Excel or plain text file.
Plot Graphs the results.
Save the data and show in Report Saves and shows the results in the report.
